Injury Collision on KY 80 in Calloway County

Date of News Release: 10/05/2013

(Hickory, Ky.) - Andrew Smith was traveling south on Van Cleave Road at the intersection of KY 80. Steven Bennett was traveling east on State Route 80, also approaching the intersection. As Mr. Smith crossed the eastbound lanes, his vehicle struck Mr. Bennett's vehicle in the driver's side, causing it to leave the right side of the roadway and overturn. Mr. Bennett's vehicle came to final rest on it's wheels, just off the right shoulder while Mr. Smith's vehicle remained in the intersection. Mr. Bennett, along with his passenger, Tina Green, were transported to the Murray Calloway County Hospital for their injuries. Mr. Smith was uninjured in the collision. Kentucky State Police was assisted on scene by Murray Calloway County EMS, Calloway County Fire Rescue and the Murray Fire Department. Investigation continues by Trooper David Dick.
