Update: KSP involved in Fulton County Shooting

(Hickory, Ky.) -- The Kentucky State Police is continuing its investigation into the shooting of Keith E. Dildine 56, of Fulton, KY. Dildine was shot, after he displayed a weapon towards local police officers and refused to comply with verbal commands. Dildine fired his weapon at the local police officers. No law enforcement officers were injured in the incident.

Senior Trooper Mark D. Franklin, a 13 year veteran with the Kentucky State Police, fired an agency issued weapon at Dildine. Senior Trooper Franklin has been assigned to the Mayfield Post for approximately three years. He is currently assigned to Fulton and Hickman Counties. Before coming to Mayfield post, Senior Trooper Franklin was assigned to the Madisonville Post for approximately 10 years. Senior Trooper Franklin served for seven years in the United States Army, before joining the Kentucky State Police. Senior Trooper Franklin remains on paid administrative leave, pursuant to KSP policy.

Local police officers involved in the shooting are Patrolman First Class Doug Love, with the Fulton City Police Department, and Patrolman Jason Pearcey of the South Fulton Police Department. Both officers fired their duty weapon during the incident. Patrolman First Class Love has eight years experience in law enforcement, and has served the last four years with Fulton Police Department. Patrolman Pearcey has been a police officer with the South Fulton Police Department for approximately four and a half years.

Dildine remains in critical condition at The Med Hospital in Memphis, TN. The investigation continues by the Kentucky State Police.

(Fulton, KY.) -- The name of the subject that shot at police officers in Fulton is Keith E. Dildine 56, of Fulton, Ky. Dildine was flown to The Med Hospital in Memphis, TN where he remains in critical condition.

KSP involved in Fulton County Shooting

Date of News Release: 07/08/2013

(Fulton, KY.) -- On Sunday July 7, 2013 at approximately 11:20 PM, Kentucky State Police received a 911 call of "shots fired" in an apartment at the Royal Ridge Apartment Complex in Fulton County. The Kentucky State Police Dispatch center transferred the 911 call to Fulton County dispatch and notified a Trooper of the call.

A KSP Trooper arrived on scene at 11:42 PM to back up a Fulton City and South Fulton City Police Officers. A subject was barricaded inside his apartment and was refusing verbal commands to come outside. After a brief stand off, the subject exited his apartment and fired shots at the Officers. Officers and a KSP Trooper returned fire striking the subject. The subject went back inside his residence before exiting again without further incident. Subject was transported by ambulance to Parkway Regional Hospital, where he was later air lifted to a Memphis hospital for his injuries.

Subject will be facing two counts of Criminal Attempt of Murder on a Police Officer. Kentucky State Police is continuing its investigation.
