June activity report from Post 1

(Hickory, KY )- Activity for KSP, Post 1, for the month of June is as follows:

Kentucky State Police, Post 1, covers the 11 counties of Ballard, Calloway, Carlisle, Fulton, Graves, Hickman, Livingston, Lyon, Marshall, McCracken, and Trigg. As of July 2, 2013 there have been 22 fatal collisions in the Post 1 area, causing 23 people to lose their lives. Of the 18 motor vehicle fatalities, ten victims were not wearing seat belts. Three of the four motorcycle fatalities were not wearing helmets. A total of five fatalities have resulted from crashes involving the suspected use of alcohol. One pedestrian was killed while walking down a roadway.

Citizens can contribute to highway safety by reporting erratic drivers to the Kentucky State Police toll-free at 1-800-222-5555. Callers will remain anonymous and should give a description of the vehicle, location, direction of travel and license number if possible.
