Graves and Marshall County pursuit ends in arrest

(Benton, KY.) -- On Thursday, March 27, 2013 Lieutenant Brent White clocked a 1998 Suzuki motorcycle north bound on the Jackson Purchase Parkway, at the 28 mile marker, in Graves County doing 91 MPH in a 70 MPH zone. Lt. White activated his emergency equipment, and the motorcycle's operator failed to stop. Lt. White pursued the motorcycle into Marshall County. The operator of the motorcycle reached a top speed of 130 MPH during the pursuit. Lt. White radioed for assistance to officers north of his location. The pursuit lasted for 13 miles, until reaching Exit 41 on the parkway, where the operator exited onto US 641. At this location, he encountered Captain Jeremy Hicks of the Benton Police Department, who assisted Lt. White in getting the operator stopped.

The driver was identified as Brian J. Farmer (22) of Wingo. He was taken into custody by Trooper Brian Duvall and charged with the following offenses: (1) Speeding (26- miles per hour or more over the limit); (2) Reckless Driving; and (3) Fleeing/Evading Police-1st Degree (Class D Felony). He was lodged in the Marshall County Jail.

The Kentucky State Police were assisted by the Benton Police Department and the Marshall County Sheriff's Department.
