Two-Vehicle Injury Collision on U.S. 60
Date of News Release: 09/17/2013
(Henderson, Ky.) -- Rebecca Byrd was traveling east on U.S. 60, just west of Henderson. Byrd then began to slow down for a car turning left onto Corydon-Geneva Road. Mark Filkins, who was also traveling east on U.S. 60, failed to slow down and made rear contact with Byrd's Chrysler Sebring. Filkins Nissan then hit a mailbox and came to rest just off the right side of the highway. Filkins was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the incident and suffered injuries to his head from making contact with the windshield. Byrd's vehicle came to rest off the right side of the highway with damage to the rear of the vehicle.
Byrd was taken to Henderson Methodist Hospital and treated for possible neck injuries. Filkins was also taken by ambulance and treated for injuries to his head. Ethan Byrd, who restrained in the back of Rebecca Byrd's Chrysler, was taken to Henderson Methodist Hospital but showed no injuries due to the incident.
The investigation is continuing.
