McLean County Ghost Out Information

Date of News Release: 04/23/2013

(McLean County, KY ) -- The program is called "Ghost Out" and is a nationally recognized curriculum for schools. "Ghost Out" is a drug and alcohol program designed to target the teenage population by visiting high schools. The program addresses issues such as drug and alcohol use, making risky decisions, and the consequences associated with these behaviors. Program highlights included someone disguised as the "Grim Reaper" who roams the classroom to select 15 "victims." These victims represent the average number of people killed in alcohol or drug-related crashes during a school day. The victims were separated from the other students and declared deceased.

The Ghost Out program contains a portion of court. The above photo is of Trooper Jeremy Baker answering questions from McLean County Attorney Bill Quisenberry. Acting Judge Josh Searcy is looking on as this case recreated what would happen if a student was involved in a fatal DUI collision.

In prison attire, a McLean County High School student was charged for the death of six fellow school mates.

This court proceeding was conducted in front of other students.

Here are those who have made the Ghost Out event possible:

Kentucky State Police; McLean County Sheriff's Office; McLean County Schools; McLean County Central Fire and Rescue; McLean County EMS; Area 3; Daviess County Fire and Rescue; McLean County Attorney Bill Quisenberry and Assistant County Attorney Josh Searcy; PHI of Greenville; Air Evac of Evansville; Phillips Enterprises; Muster's Funeral Home and Owensboro Health.

Monetary funding donations were provided by: Beulah General Baptist Church; Livermore Baptist Church; McLean County Coalition/KY ASAP and Calhoun Baptist Church.

("These agencies, organizations and churches really stepped-up to the plate in helping us carry out this powerful program. Kudos to them and their sponsorship. It really shows that caring for McLean County's safety and youth is all of our priority").
