State Police Investigating a Structure Fire That Killed a Hawesville Woman

(Hawesville, KY.) -- The Kentucky State Police are investigating a residential structure fire that killed a Hawesville woman.
Kentucky State Police received a call from Hancock County Dispatch with regards to a structure fire that occurred before 10 a.m. (1-3-2013) at 1342 Goering Road, Hawesville. Local Fire Departments were sent to put out the structure fire. After the blaze was contained, investigators located a body inside the charred house.
The deceased was identified as the home owner, Ines Smith (91) of Hawesville, KY. An autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow by the State's Medical Examiner in Louisville.
Preliminary indications suggest this structure fire is not a criminal act; however, the investigation is continuing. KSP Detective Mike Smith, Detective Chris Baker, Kentucky State Fire Marshal Phil Fogle and the Hancock County Coroner's Office are investigating this fire.
