News Release

Russell County Injury Collision Leads to Arrests

Date of News Release: 06/19/2013

(Jamestown, KY.) -- Trooper Adam Likins is investigating a collision that occurred on Tuesday, June 18. Kentucky State Police received a call at approximatley 12:19 AM CST from Russell County Dispatch to respond to the collision that occurred 4 miles west of Jamestown on KY 92. 24-year-old Tiffany Cox of Richmond, VA was traveling west on KY 92, operating a 2002 Chevy 4-dr when she crossed the centerline and struck an eastbound 2006 Chevy Pickup. The pickup was operated by 36-year-old Daniel Johnson of Jamestown, KY. Both vehicles came to final rest off of the roadway.

Cox and a passenger, 26-year-old Kayla Whitaker were both belted but were transported to Russell County Hospital where they were treated and released. Cox was charged with Driving Under the Influence, 1st Offense.

Johnson left the scene and called 911 from his residence and was later arrested for Driving Under the Influence, 1st Offense and Leaving the Scene of an Accident.

Trooper Likins was assisted at the scene by Russell County EMS, Sheriff's Department, Jamestown Fire Department, Russell Springs Police Department and Russell County Rescue Squad.
