News Release

Bardstown Man Injured in a DUI Collision on Burke Springs Road

Date of News Release: 02/08/2013

(Marion County, KY) – Trooper Casey Wethington is investigating an injury collision that occurred on Thursday February 7, 2013 at approximately 11:20 P.M. The collision occurred on Burke Springs Road, approximately four miles south of Loretto.

James Mackin, age 44 of Bardstown, was operating a 1993 Pontiac Grand Prix traveling south on Burke Springs Road when his vehicle dropped off the shoulder of the road, traveled through a residential lawn, through a small pond, across a driveway before striking a utility pole. Mackin, who was not belted, was transported to Springview Medical Center where he was treated and released. Upon release, Mackin was arrested by Trooper Wethington and charged with DUI and lodged in the Marion County Detention Center.

Trooper Wethington was assisted at the scene by the Marion County Sheriff’s Department and Marion County EMS. The Collision remains under investigation by Trooper Wethington.
