Grayson Man Killed in a Collision on KY State Route 1444
Date of News Release: 02/24/2013
(Ashland, KY) -- The Kentucky State Police in Ashland is investigating a collision that occurred yesterday afternoon around 3:24 pm on KY State Route 1444 in Carter County, KY. The victim, 17 year old Lewis J. Fankell of Grayson, KY, was operating a Pontiac Firebird eastbound on KY 1444 when he lost control of the vehicle, traveled over an embankment and struck a tree. Mr. Fankell was pronounced deceased at the scene by Carter County Deputy Coroner Ronnie Wallace.
Due to the severity of the collision seatbelt usage has not been determined. Alcohol usage is not suspected at this time.
The Carter County Sheriff's Department, Carter County EMS, Grayson Fire Department and Carter County Coroner's Office assisted with the investigation.
