Knott County Attempted Murder Investigation

Date of News Release: 06/29/2013

(Hazard, KY) -- At 1:52 AM on Saturday June 29th, 2013 KSP in Hazard was notified of male subject attempting to force entry into a residence located at 6845 Highway 899 in the Pippa Passes community of Knott County. The alleged perpetrator Clyde Thomas forced his way into the residence by breaking open a glass door and once inside fired several shots. The homeowner returned fire resulting in the alleged perpetrator receiving multiple gunshot wounds. The perpetrator was transported from the crime scene to the Hazard ARH Hospital by Knott County Tran-Star Ambulance and was later flown to the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington. The homeowner along with the perpetrators wife and daughter who were also in the home at the time were not injured. Detective Clayton Stamper is in charge of the investigation and criminal charges are pending at this time.
