Death Investigation Occurs In Letcher County

(Hazard, KY) -- On March 14, 2013 at approximately 3:23 a.m. Kentucky State Police in Hazard received a 911 call in reference to a person lying in the roadway on Ky 3410 in the Mayking community of Letcher County.
Preliminary investigation indicates that a domestic disturbance had occurred between Roger and Connie Elswick at their residence. The domestic resulted in the death of 35 year old Connie Elswick. The Letcher County Coroner pronounced her deceased at the scene.
The Letcher County Commonwealth Attorney was contacted and Roger Elswick, age 37, was arrested and charged with Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree and lodged in the Letcher County Detention Center. The body has been taken to the Medical Examiner's Office in Frankfort for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
The investigation is continuing and additional charges are possible pending the Medical Examiner's report and the investigation being presented to the Letcher County Grand Jury. Det. Billy Pollard is in charge of the investigation.
