Letcher County Resident Arrested In Assault Investigation

Date of News Release: 01/17/2013

(Hazard, Ky.) -- On January 16, 2013 Kentucky State Police in Hazard received a call from the Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital stating they were treating an individual in their facility for assault.

Preliminary investigation indicates that Tina Wells, age 33 of Pine Creek in Letcher County, had been stabbed several times at her residence. During the investigation information led police to the arrest of her boyfriend Robert Hamilton, age 28 also of Letcher County. Wells was initially treated at the Whitesburg ARH and then transferred to University of Kentucky Medical Center. Robert Hamilton has been lodged in the Letcher County Jail and charged with Assault 1st Degree Domestic Violence and other charges related to a bench warrant. The investigation is continuing by Kentucky State Police.
