News Release

Explosive Device Found in Anderson County

Date of News Release: 06/17/2013

(Lawrenceburg, KY.) -- On Monday, June 17, 2013 at approx., 12:27 pm, a staff member at the Phoenix Academy found a possible explosive device in the Academy parking lot. The Lawrenceburg Police Department was notified and responded. They next requested help from the Kentucky State Police Frankfort Post and the KSP Hazardous Devices Unit.

The explosive device is described as a grenade. The KSP Hazardous Devices Unit Technicians render the explosive device as safe. No kids were present at the Academy. The KSP Frankfort Post is investigating this incident. Anyone with information about this incident is asks to call Detective Ben Wolcott at the KSP Frankfort Post at 502-227-2221. The callers can remain anonymous. KSP is being assisted by the Lawrenceburg PD and the KSP Hazardous Devices Unit.
