Date of News Release: 06/01/2013

(Lexington, KY) -- On Friday, May 31, 2013 at 5:50 pm, a Kentucky State Police Trooper and the Scott County Deputies located a 2000 Lincoln silver in color on I-64 at the 72 mile marker. KSP and the Scott County Sheriff's Department had received information from the Lexington Division of Police that the driver Daniel Moody had warrants on him. They also were advised that Moody should be considered arm and dangerous.

The Lexington Division of Police had attempted a traffic stop on the same vehicle being driven by Moody in Lexington. Moody failed to stop and successfully evaded units. The Lexington Division of Police requested surrounding law enforcement agencies attempt to locate Moody and gave a description of his vehicle and possible route of travel being I-64. They also advised that Moody was armed with a handgun. They also had suspicions that Moody was trafficking in a Controlled Substance (Heroin).

A Kentucky State Trooper and Scott County Deputies located Moody's vehicle at the Scott/Fayette line on I-64 traveling eastbound. The Trooper attempted to stop Moody but he refused to stop and a pursuit began. The pursuit traveled through four counties at a high rate of speed. The pursuit lasted for 27 minutes and covered 50 miles. The pursuit came to an end in Bath County when a Scott County Deputy used legal intervention disabling the eluding vehicle. Moody then attempted to run on foot. During the foot pursuit Moody discarded a handgun. After a short foot pursuit Moody was apprehended.

Daniel Moody , age 28 of Lexington, KY, has been charged with; Speeding 26 mph/over, Reckless Driving, Fleeing and Evading 1st, Possession of Handgun by a Convicted Felon, Reckless Driving, No Insurance, Wanton Endangerment 1st. (Police Officer), Wanton Endangerment 1st , Failure to Wear Seat Belt, Improper Passing, Improper Lane Uses, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Trafficking in Heroin. Moody's passenger Kristine Muncie, age 32, of Lexington, KY, was arrested on five unrelated warrants.
