Vehicle Pursuit and Wanton Endangerment Arrest in Rockcastle & Laurel Counties

(LONDON, KY.) - On Thursday, November 14, 2013 at approximately 7:25 PM, Trooper Eric Moore clocked a 2014 Ford Mustang in excess of 100 MPH traveling northbound on Interstate 75 in Rockcastle County.
Trooper Moore attempted to stop the Mustang however the operator refused to stop and Trooper Moore initiated a pursuit. The suspect continued traveling northbound and exited the interstate at exit 76 in Madison County. The suspect re-entered I-75 at the 76 exit traveling south. The suspect led officers through Rockcastle County into Laurel County.
Two separate tire deflation devices were successfully deployed and as a result the suspects vehicle slowed considerably enabling trooper's to perform a Pursuit Intervention Technique.
The suspect's vehicle then struck the barrier wall and came to a complete stop. The suspect was then taken into custody.
Arrested was Shaun Dirkach, 37, of Jacksonville, NC and charged with Speeding, Reckless Driving, Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree, Criminal Mischief 1st, Resisting Arrest, Fleeing/ Evading Police 1st in both Laurel and Rockcastle Counties. He was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
KSP Troopers were assisted by officers from Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, Rockcastle County Sheriff's Office, Laurel County Sheriff's Office and officers from the London City Police.
