Fatal Traffic Crash in Whitley County

(LONDON, KY.) - On Sunday, October 12, 2013 at approximately 12:08 AM, the Kentucky State Police, Post 11 London, received a report of a single vehicle traffic crash on Bee Creek RD in Whitley County.
Upon arrival Trooper Leslie Moses determined that a 1994, Toyota, Corolla, operated by Bernie R. Kilgore, 48, of Corbin, was traveling westbound on Bee Creek RD when he failed to negotiate a curve and crossed the centerline, struck a utility pole and then struck a tree head on.
Kilgore was pronounced dead at the scene by Andy Croley of the Whitley County Coroners Office.
The passenger Charles D, Clark, 21, of Corbin was airlifted from the scene and taken to the University of Kentucky Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.
Kilgore and Clark were not wearing seat belts at the time of the collision.
Alcohol is suspected to be a factor in the collision.
Trooper Moses is in charge of the investigation and was assisted at the scene by KSP SGT William Elliot, SGT Jason Bunch, Whitley County Sheriff's Office, Whitley County EMS and members of the Oak Grove Fire Department.
