News Release

Criminal Arrest in Laurel County

Date of News Release: 07/19/2013

(LONDON, KY.) -- The Kentucky State Police, Post 11 London, conducted an investigation into the Trespassing on the CSX Railroad property in the East Bernstadt Community of Laurel County.

On Saturday, July 13, 2013 at 12:30 p.m. Trooper Justin Oliver received a report of a vehicle vs. a train collision on CSX Railroad Property off of Hazel Patch Road. Upon arrival Trooper Oliver determined that a white, 1999, Chevrolet, pickup truck had been driven onto CSX Railroad Property where it became struck next to the railroad tracks. As the train approached a male and a female attempted to flag down the train but the train was unable to stop and struck the truck. The male and female then fled the scene.

Trooper Oliver conducted an investigation into the incident which led to the identity of the male as Bradley Wayne Fields, 27, of East Bernstadt.

On Friday, July 19, 2013 at 10:06 a.m. Trooper Oliver located Fields and charged him with Criminal Trespassing 3rd Degree, Criminal Mischief, 1st Degree, Failure to Report Traffic Accident and Failure of Owner to Maintain Required Insurance, 1st Offense.

The female has not been identified.

Fields was lodged in the Laurel County Jail.

Trooper Oliver is continuing the investigation.
