Vehicle Pursuit and Arrest with Traffic Crash in Whitley County

(LONDON, KY.) -- On Saturday, June 08, 2013 at 10:19 p.m. the Kentucky State Police, Post 11 London, was notified of a Tennessee Highway Patrol vehicle pursuit on Interstate 75 that was coming into Kentucky in Whitley County.
Upon entering Kentucky, Trooper Duane Foley took the lead from the Tennessee Highway Patrol and along with the Jellico Police Department and the Whitley County Sheriff's Department continued the vehicle pursuit northbound to exit 11. The Driver exited the interstate turning onto KY 92 continuing to the intersection of KY 92 and US 25. Once at the intersection the driver failed to negotiate a turn and crashed into a local business. The driver then placed the vehicle into reverse and attempted to back up into officers. At that time a Whitley County Deputy disabled the vehicle by shooting out the rear tires.
The driver, a 17 year old juvenile, was arrested and charged with Reckless Driving, Speeding, Fleeing or Evading Police 1st Degree, Operating on a Suspended or Revoked Drivers License, DUI, Resisting Arrest, Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree (2 Counts), Criminal Mischief(2 Counts) and Attempted Murder of a Police Officer (2 Counts).
The juvenile was lodged in a Kentucky Juvenile Detention Center.
Trooper Foley is in charge of the investigation and was assisted by the Whitley County Sheriff's Office, the Williamsburg Police Department, the Tennessee Highway Patrol and the Jellico Tennessee Police Department.
