News Release

Arson Investigation and Arrest in Laurel County

Date of News Release: 06/01/2013

(LONDON, KY.) -- On Saturday, June 01, 2013 at approximately 01:20 a.m., the Kentucky State Police, Post 11 London, received a report, from the Laurel County 911 Center, of a structure fire at Peach Tree Lane in the North Corbin Community of southern Laurel County, KY.

Upon arrival KSP Post 11 Arson Investigator Detective Brian Lewis determined there had been an accelerant use to advance the fire. Further investigation into the incident determined that a subject, that may have information pertinent to the investigation, had been arrested by the Whitley County Sheriff's Department and lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center for Alcohol Intoxication in a Public Place.

Upon being interviewed about the fire, Douglas Paul Taylor, 52, of Corbin, gave information as to his involvement in the cause of the fire which led to him being charged with Arson 2nd Degree.

Detective Lewis is in charge of the investigation and was assisted by the Lily Fire Department and the Whitley County Sheriff's Office.
