Terroristic Threatening Investigation and Arrest in McCreary County

(LONDON, KY.) -- On Tuesday, May 07, 2013 at 4:15 p.m. the Kentucky State Police, Post 11 London, was notified of verbal threats being made to the Pine Knot Elementary School and the McCreary County School Superintendant.
Detective Billy Correll secured a warrant of arrest for James M. Paulson, 50, of Stearns on the charge of Terroristic Threatening 2ND degree in reference to threats made toward the school and superintendant.
The investigation determined the threats were in reference to budget cutbacks and the loss of employee positions in the school system although Paulson's position was not affected. There was no evidence located to lead investigators to believe that the school, employees or the children were in any immediate danger.
Paulson was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
Detective Correll is continuing the investigation and he was assisted by McCreary County Sheriff's Deputies Joe Horne and Ethan Jones, Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Officer Chris King, KSP Sgt Bill Elliotte and Trooper Wendell Higginbotham.
