News Release

Traffic Crash with Injury at the Laurel / Whitley County Line

Date of News Release: 03/07/13

(LONDON, KY.) -- On Thursday, March 07, 2013 at approximately 7:17 a.m., the Kentucky State Police, Post 11 London, received a report of a two vehicle traffic crash, with injury, on KY 312 south of London at the Laurel / Whitley County line. While officers were responding a secondary crash occurred at the scene of the first crash.

Upon arrival Trooper David Lassiter determined that a silver, 1995, Dodge, Ram, Pickup truck, operated by Billy McKeehan, 25, of Corbin, went out of control on the ice cover bridge and struck a silver, 2005, GMC, Yukon, SUV operated by Crystal Stidham, 34, of Corbin, that was involved in an earlier crash.

Stidham and her three passengers, Halia Stidham, 12, Kaila Stidham, 9 and Alana Stidham, 6, were taken to the Baptist Regional Medical Center for treatment in reference to the earlier crash.

McKeehan, who was alone in his vehicle, was also taken to the Baptist Regional Medical Center for treatment.

No drug or alcohol usage was suspected.

Trooper Lassiter is in charge of the investigation and was assisted at the scene by officers from the Kentucky State Police, the Whitley County EMS and local fire departments.
