KSP Post 11, London to host fifth Citizen's Police Academy

Date of News Release: 02/13/13

(LONDON, KY.)-- Kentucky State Police, Post 11, is now accepting applications for the 2013 Citizens Police Academy. The 11-week academy is slated to begin on Tuesday March 12, 2013 and will conclude Tuesday May 21, 2013. Students will meet from 6:00 to 8:30 PM where they will learn about the many facets of the Kentucky State Police including patrol, criminal investigations, and drug investigations. The academy will provide some hands on exercises and is meant for informational purposes only and will not give students police powers.

The classes will be held at Somerset Community College, room 115 Laurel County Campus, located behind the South Laurel High School at 235 South Laurel Road in London, KY. Applications can be obtained by contacting the Kentucky State Police, Post 11 at (606) 878-6622 or online at Post 11 2013 Kentucky State Police Citizens Police Academy Electronic Application.

Anyone 18 years of age, or older, living within the Kentucky State Police, Post 11 District is welcome to apply and must be able to pass a back ground check.

The KSP Post 11 District consists of the following counties: Laurel, Clay, Rockcastle, Pulaski, Whitley, McCreary and Wayne. There is no cost to attend and participants must attend 80% of the classes to graduate.

Applications will be accepted until Friday, March 8, 2013.
