Knox County Shooting

(Woodbine, Ky.) - On December 11, 2013 at 4:50 P.M Kentucky State Police, Post 10 Harlan received a call asking for assistance by the Knox County Sherriff's Department related to a shooting on Prewitt Road in Woodbine. Once troopers arrived at the scene they located Chris Dinkins, 50, from Corbin had been shot once in the face with a hand gun. Fred Meyer, 86, from Woodbine was taken into custody.
Preliminary investigation indicates that Mr. Dinkins was sitting in his vehicle at Mr. Meyer's residence, along with a 16 year old male passenger. Mr. Meyer came out onto the porch and a verbal argument took place. At that time, Mr. Meyer fired one shot at Mr. Dinkins, striking him in the face. Mr. Dinkins was taken to Baptist Health in Corbin where he was flown on to the University of Kentucky Hospital. His condition is not known at this time. No other injuries occurred during the dispute.
Mr. Meyer was arrested and charged with assault 1st degree and lodged in the Knox County Detention Center. The case is still under investigation by Detective Bryan Johnson, Post 10 Harlan.
