Post 10 Trooper Honored at Ceremony

(Harlan, Ky.) – On Tuesday, December 3, the 2013 Governor's Impaired Driving Enforcement Awards ceremony was held at the Marriott Louisville East. The Kentucky Office of Highway Safety (KOHS) honored 206 law enforcement officers from 174 agencies across the Commonwealth for their efforts to target impaired drivers.
Last year, Kentucky recorded more than 5,750 alcohol-related crashes, resulting in 146 deaths and more than 3,000 injuries. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), one in three Americans will be impacted by a drunken driving crash in their lifetime.
Tpr. Russell Maynard, from KSP Post 10 Harlan, was recognized at this ceremony for his outstanding job performance to remove impaired drivers from our roads. For the enforcement period, which ran from October 1, 2012 through September 30, 2013, Tpr. Maynard arrested 59 impaired drivers.
Tpr. Maynard is a native of Williamsburg, KY. He graduated from Whitley County High School in 2003. Tpr. Maynard began his career with the KSP in May of 2011. He is currently assigned to Knox County.
