News Release

Trooper Involved Shooting in Cumberland, KY

Date of News Release: 10/07/2013

(Cumberland, Ky.) . On October 7, 2013 at 1:59 P.M Kentucky State Police, Post 10 Harlan received a call from Cumberland Police Department in Harlan County requesting assistance after their officers responded to a shots fired complaint. Upon troopers' arrival, Jason W. Edmond (42) from Cumberland had barricaded himself inside of his residence after firing several shots into a several neighboring homes. Mr. Edmond exited his home and came out into the front yard and began screaming and threatening officers. Mr. Edmond raised his weapon in the troopers' direction when two troopers shot him. Mr. Edmond was airlifted to Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, TN for treatment. No troopers or officers where injured during the incident. Investigation is still continuing by Kentucky State Police.
