Shooting Investigation in Cumberland, KY

(Cumberland, Ky.) -- Kentucky State Police units responded to a shooting complaint on Boggs Hollow Road in Cumberland. KSP received the call around 3:40 p.m. on Sunday, August 11, 2013.
The E-911 call came from a neighbor stating that Victor Boggs, age 55, of Cumberland was into an argument with his son and that shots had been fired by Boggs. The son, Kevin Maggard, age 20, suffered a single gunshot wound to his foot during the altercation. Mr. Maggard was transported to Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital where he was subsequently airlifted by AirEvac Lifteam #88 of Harlan to Holsten Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, Tennessee. However, his injuries do not appear to be life threatening.
As a result of the investigation, Det. Michael H. Cornett charged Mr. Boggs with Assault First Degree – Domestic Violence, a class B felony and lodged him in the Harlan County Detention Center. No bond had been set at the time of this release.
Det. Cornett was assisted in his investigation by KSP Sergeant Jeremy Lee, troopers Brandon Burton, Josh Howard, Kenny Sergent, and Rodney Sturgill. The investigation is continuing by Det. Cornett.
