Harlan County Fatal Fire
Date of News Release: 04/26/2013
(Cranks, Ky.) -- The Kentucky State Police, Post 10 Harlan is investigating a fatal fire in the Cranks community of Harlan County off KY 568. The Martins Fork Volunteer Fire Department responded to the fire around 1:30 a.m on 04/26/2013. At approximately 5:00am KSP Arson Investigator, Fire Marshal's Office, and Harlan County Coroner where notified that human remains had been located. At this time, KSP Detectives and Troopers are still on the scene. No foul play is suspected. The body is being sent to the State Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy and positive identification.
The death remains under investigation by KSP Det. Jason Joseph.
KSP Sgt. A.J. Bunch, Sgt. Jackie Pickrell, Det. Kenny Abner, Det. Josh Bunch, Troopers Jacob Wilson, Jared Boggs, and the State Fire Marshal are assisting at the scene. The Sunshine Volunteer Fire Department assisted Martins Fork Fire Department.
