News Release

Motorcycle Collision in Harlan County

Date of News Release: 02/17/2013

(Wallins, Ky.) -- On Saturday, February 16, 2013 troopers from Kentucky State Police Post 10- Harlan responded to a vehicle collision on Ky 219 in the Wallins community of Harlan County. Ksp Post 10 received the call at 1:42 p.m.

Preliminary Investigation indicates that a 2001 Chevrolet Astro operated by Roy Watkins, 76, of Wallins, Ky was traveling west on Ky 219. A 2006 Honda CBR600 motorcycle operated by Kerry Partin, 20, of Loyall was traveling east on Ky 219. The vehicle operated by Mr. Watkins was attempting to make a left turn onto Brooks Street. Mr. Watkins turned into the path of the motorcycle and at which time the motorcycle struck the passengers rear causing the operator to be ejected. The operator of the motorcycle was flown to Holston Valley Medical Center in Tn. for treatment.

Kerry Partin was cited for multiple traffic citations. The Kentucky State Police was assisted at the scene by the Wallins Creek vol fire dept, and Ems. The collision is still under investigation by Tpr. Kenny Sergent.
