Injury Collision on I-75 in Madison County

Date of News Release: 01/31/2012

(Richmond, KY) -- On Tuesday, January 31, 2012, at 8:50 am EST the Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post received a report of a crash on I-75 in Madison County. Trooper Phillip Powell responded to the scene. Preliminary investigation indicates a black 2008 Ford Fusion operated by Sarah K. Stewart, 24 years old of Richmond, KY., was headed north on I-75. Mrs. Stewarts' vehicle swerved to the left and struck a concrete lane divider then swerved to the right, when the vehicle approached the emergency breakdown shoulder on the right the operator swerved back to the left. The Ford Fusion crossed in front of and struck the front right corner of a commercial tractor trailer, which was also headed north and operated by Bruce Bigelow, 55 years old of Rockford, OH.

Mrs. Stewart was treated and released at the University of Kentucky hospital.

Trooper Powell is the investigating officer.
