Two-Vehicle Injury Collision in Hopkins County

Date of News Release: 01/20/2012

(Madisonville, Ky.) -- Cherise Johnson, age 32 of Madisonville, KY, was operating a 2003 Chevrolet Impala southbound on the Pennyrile Parkway. Michael Smith, age 35 of Cadiz, KY, was operating a 2001 Toyota Camry southbound on the Pennyrile Parkway traveling behind Ms. Johnson's vehicle.

Ms. Johnson was in the right lane attempting to exit at the 42 mile-marker when Mr. Smith's vehicle rear-ended her. Ms. Johnson was transported via ambulance to the Regional Medical Center for treatment. Mr. Smith was not injured. Both subjects were wearing seatbelts.

Trooper Nathan Craft investigated the collision that occurred on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at approximately 7:10 p.m. The Madisonville Fire Department and Medical Center Ambulance Service assisted at the scene.
