News Release

Robbery 1st Degree Investigation and Arrest

Date of News Release: 01/09/2012

(Madisonville, Ky.) -- On Monday, January 9, 2012 at approximately 3:23 p.m., the Kentucky State Police Post 2 Madisonville received a call from Hopkins County Dispatch in reference to an attempt to locate two vehicles that had been involved in an armed robbery. Hopkins County Dispatch advised that the victim, Iria Kittinger, age 38 of Madisonville, KY, was in a vehicle following another vehicle whose occupants had just robbed him at gunpoint at his residence. The two vehicles were traveling southbound on the Edward T. Breathitt Pennyrile Parkway.

Post 2 units located the suspect vehicle on KY 800 in the limits of Crofton and conducted a traffic stop. During a search of the vehicle, officers located firearms and marijuana.

Arrested without incident were:

  1. Tyrone Poindexter, age 30 of Hopkinsville, KY. Charged with Robbery 1st Degree, Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
  2. Deandrea Grimes, age 21 of Hopkinsville, KY. Charged with Robbery 1st Degree.
  3. Jemiah Poindexter, age 24 of Hopkinsville, KY. Charged with Robbery 1st Degree and Possession of Marijuana.

All three subjects were lodged in the Hopkins County Detention Center. Trooper First Class John Komar is continuing the investigation.
