Two Vehicle Injury Collision in Muhlenberg County

Date of News Release: 01/05/2012

(Madisonville, Ky.) -- Carol Wells, age 46 of Belton, KY, was operating a 2011 Ford Edge. Ms. Wells was stopped at the stop sign on KY 2270 East at the intersection of KY 70 East. Christopher Pitts, age 29 of Belton, KY, was operating a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado eastbound on KY 70 approaching this intersection.

Ms. Wells stated that another vehicle was stopped on KY 70 in the westbound lanes waiting to turn onto KY 2270. The driver of this unknown vehicle motioned for Ms. Wells to pull out so that he could pull in. Ms. Wells pulled out from the intersection and into the path of Mr. Pitts' vehicle.

Mr. Pitts' vehicle struck Ms. Wells' vehicle in the front, left fender. Ms. Wells' vehicle came to rest in the middle of the intersection facing northeast. Mr. Pitts' vehicle traveled off the right shoulder of the roadway where it came to rest facing east.

Ms. Wells' was transported via ambulance to the Owensboro Medical Center for treatment. No other injuries were reported. All occupants were using restraints.

Trooper Brandon McPherson investigated the crash that occurred on Thursday, January 05, 2012 at 10:27 a.m. The Beechmont Volunteer Fire Department and Muhlenberg County EMS assisted at the scene.
