News Release

Injury collision on the Western Kentucky Parkway (MM25)

Date of News Release: 01/05/2012

(Madisonville, Ky.) -- Rebecca Salked, age 23 of New Albany, IN, was operating a 2002 Jeep Liberty westbound on the Western Kentucky Parkway at approximately the 25 mile-marker when she swerved to avoid a deer. Ms. Salked overcorrected and lost control of the vehicle. It exited off the left shoulder of the roadway and crossed the median. The vehicle continued across both eastbound lanes of travel. It came to final rest overturned in a ditch off the right shoulder of the eastbound lanes. A passenger in the vehicle, Trinitie Salked, age 3 of New Albany, IN, was transported to the Regional Medical Center for treatment. Rebecca Salked and her other passenger, Paul Schmidt, age 31 of State College, PA, were not injured. All subjects were using restraints.

Trooper Jonathan Carlock investigated the crash that occurred on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at 11:42 p.m. Trooper Carlo Anderson, the Dawson Springs Police Department, the Hopkins County Sheriff's Department, the Dawson Springs Volunteer Fire Department, and Medical Center Ambulance Service assisted at the scene.
