Shooting Investigation in Floyd County

Date of News Release: 08/08/2010

(Floyd County, Ky.)-- On Saturday August 7, 2010 at approximately 1643 hours Post 09 received a call of a shooting at RT 850 in the Middle Creek community of Floyd County.

A male subject broke into the residence of a former girlfriend and when the female and her boyfriend returned to the residence the male subject opened fire and struck both victims. The male suspect fled the scene prior to officers' arrival.

The female victim was transported to Highlands Regional Hospital where she was treated and released for a single gunshot wound to the leg. The male victim was transported to Cabell Huntington by Wings Air Ambulance where he was admitted for gunshot wounds to the leg, abdomen, and groin areas. Detective Jason Dials Unit 433 responded and is investigating the shooting. Detective Dials was assisted on scene by Trooper Cassandra Mullins, Trooper Tony Tackett, Sergeant Randy Woods, Floyd County Sheriffs Department and Respond Ambulance Service.
