Arrest Made in the Fatal Accident in Carroll County Investigation

(Carrollton, Ky.) -- Investigators from KSP Post 5 have determined the identity of the driver who fled the scene of a fatal traffic collision on August 25, 2010. Trooper Brandon Maupin arrested Donnie Ketterer at 4:15 p.m. on September 1 for fleeing the collision that resulted in the death of Aaron Martin from Ghent. Mr. Ketterer, a 36 year-old male from Carroll County, has been charged with Leaving the Scene of an Accident and Failing to Render Aid involving Death. The charge is a Class D Felony which is punishable up to 5 years in prison. Mr. Ketterer was lodged in the Carroll County Detention Center.

Date of News Release: 08/25/2010
(Ghent, Ky.) -- At 12:35 A.M. on August 25, 2010 dispatchers from the State Police Post in Campbellsburg received a call reporting an injury accident on Highway 47 approximately 11/2 miles from Ghent in Carroll County. Aaron L. Martin, a 24 year old from Ghent was pronounced deceased on scene by the Carroll County Coroner. According to the initial investigation, it appears that Mr. Martin; who had been involved in an earlier non-injury accident at the same location, and while attempting to remove his vehicle from the ditch was struck and killed by a passing motorist who fled the scene. The suspected vehicle was later recovered but the driver remains at large.
Kentucky State Police is requesting anyone with any information on this accident to contact Trooper Matthew Corbin at Post 5 at 502-532-6363.
The Carroll County Coroner's office and West Side Fire department assisted on scene.
