Trimble County Residential Armed Robbery

Date of News Release: 06/03/2010

(Milton, Ky.) -- Dispatchers at Post 5 received a 911 call at 2:33 a.m. this morning (6/3) from Snell Lane in Trimble County reporting a residential armed robbery resulting in a resident being shot. Through investigation, Troopers and Detectives determined that 2 to 3 unknown persons dressed in black clothing while wearing ski masks attempted to break into an occupied residence. The suspects assaulted 30 year old resident Josh Broughton, Sr. as he confronted the suspects at the door. After robbing Broughton, the suspects began to flee the scene. Broughton was then shot by one of the suspects as he attempted to follow the suspects. Broughton was transported by family members to Kings Daughters Hospital in Madison, Indiana where he was treated for a gunshot wound and released.

Detective Todd Harwood leads the ongoing investigation. The Trimble County Sheriff's office also responded to the scene while assisting during the investigation.
