One Killed in a Single Vehicle DUI Collision on U.S. 42

(Warsaw, Ky.) -- Troopers from KSP Post 5 responded to a fatal collision this morning at 2:04 a.m. in Gallatin County. Investigation revealed that James E. Bayes, a 50 year-old man from Glencoe, crossed the centerline of U.S. 42 near Warsaw before impacting an embankment. Bayes was pronounced dead by the Gallatin County Coroner at the scene at 2:54 a.m. Preliminary information suggests that alcohol may be a factor.
Trooper Walter Szczepan is leading the investigation. Trooper Szczepan was assisted by the following agencies: Gallatin County Sheriff's Office, Warsaw Police Department, and the Gallatin County Fire & EMS.
