Assault on Police Officer Investigation and Arrest

(Elizabethtown, Ky.) -- On January 22, 2010, Tpr. Norman Chaffins with the Kentucky State Police, Post 4 in Elizabethtown, and Deputy Robert Jackson, Grayson County Sheriff's Office, responded to Miller Lane in the Big Clifty area of Grayson County on a domestic violence complaint. A female subject stated that she had been assaulted by Charles Allen. Upon arrival, the officers located Mr. Allen hiding inside a vehicle in a small outbuilding near the residence. Mr. Allen refused to open the door and made verbal threats towards both officers. Tpr. Chaffins broke the driver's side window of the vehicle and attempted to restrain the Mr. Allen. Mr. Allen then exited the vehicle through the passenger door. Mr. Allen charged Deputy Jackson and refused all commands given to him. Mr. Allen struck Deputy Jackson in the face with his fist. Tpr. Chaffins and Deputy Jackson used a TASER and physical force to take Mr. Allen into custody. Deputy Jackson and Mr. Allen were both treated at Twin Lakes Hospital for minor injuries and released. Mr. Allen was lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center.
Charles Allen age 41 of Leitchfield, Ky. was charged with Assault 3rd Degree - Police Officer, Terroristic Threatening 3rd Degree, Resisting Arrest, and Assault 4th Domestic Violence.
