News Release

5 Injured in a Single Vehicle Collision on I-65

Date of News Release: 05/28/2010

(Bowling Green, Ky.) -- Marshall Tichenor was traveling South on Interstate 65 in Hart County near the 68 mile marker when Mr. Tichenor fell asleep while driving. Mr. Tichenor's vehicle dropped off of the left shoulder of the roadway and entered the median. Mr. Tichenor's vehicle came back onto the roadway and crossed over both Southbound lanes before impacting the guardrail with the right side of his vehicle. As Mr. Tichenor's vehicle impacted the guardrail both rear passengers (Jessica Tichenor age 19 and Preston Tichenor 5 months old) were ejected from the vehicle. The infant was thrown completely out of the vehicle and the adult female was partially ejected upon impact. Mr. Tichenor's vehicle continued South in the emergency lane where the adult female fell completely out of the vehicle. Mr. Tichenor's vehicle came to a final rest in the emergency lane facing South in an upright position. The infant child was transported to Kosairs Hospital by Air Methods Helicopter. The adult female ejected was transported to the University Of Louisville Hospital by Air Evac Helicopter. The other three passengers were wearing their seatbelts and sustained only minor injuries.
