Post 3's Click It or Ticket Highway Safety Mobilization

Date of News Release: 05/19/2010

(Bowling Green, Ky.) -- As motorists travel along Kentucky's roads this Memorial Day weekend, the Kentucky State Police want to encourage everyone to buckle up. Beginning Monday, May 24, 2010, and continuing through Sunday, June 6, 2010, the Kentucky State Police will be participating in the CLICK IT OR TICKET enforcement campaign. If you choose not to buckle up, then be prepared to get a ticket.

The Memorial Day weekend, which begins Friday, May 28, 2010, and ends on Monday, May 31, 2010, traditionally marks the beginning of the summer driving season and the Kentucky State Police expect a significant increase in traffic on the state's roadways Statewide

During this campaign, troopers from the Bowling Green Kentucky State Police Post will be participating with local law enforcement agencies to conduct traffic safety check-points in the Post 3 district. At these check-points, officers well be targeting impaired drivers, checking for properly restrained adults and children and observing for any other safety violations. Patrols will be increased in high volume traffic areas and high crash locations. Troopers will also be targeting reckless drivers and speeders.

The Kentucky State Police encourages everyone to buckle up and have a safe holiday.

Post 3 serves the following counties: Allen, Barren, Butler, Edmonson, Hart, Logan, Simpson, and Warren.

Citizens can assist by calling toll free 1-800-222-5555 (in the state of Kentucky only, does not work out of state) to report any type of unsafe driving behavior. Be prepared to provide direction of travel, description of vehicle, and the license plate number if possible.
