Felony Drug Arrest in Christian County

Date of News Release: 08/12/2010

(Madisonville, Ky.) -- On Wednesday, August 11, 2010, at approximately 11:38 p.m., Trooper Derek Smith conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for careless driving on the Edward T. Breathitt Pennyrile Parkway near the Crofton exit. Through investigation, Trooper Smith determined that the operator of the vehicle, Vickie Dawson, age 49 of Elkton, KY, was under the influence. She was also found to be in possession of an illegal controlled substance, Methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia. Ms. Dawson was arrested and charged with the following offenses:

1. Failure To Wear Seat Belt
2. Careless Driving
3. DUI 2nd Offense
4. Possession of Controlled Substance 1st Degree 2nd Offense
5. Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

She was lodged in the Christian County Detention Center. Sergeant Jason Newby assisted Trooper Smith.
