One Killed & Two Injured in a Three Vehicle Collision

(Madisonville, Ky.) -- Mr. Scott M. Ratliff operating a 1999 Ford Escort was traveling northbound on US41, while Mr. Freeman D. Martin operating a 2001 Buick Lesabre and Mr. Jimmy M. Morgan operating a 2004 GMC Sierra truck were both traveling southbound on US41. Mr. Morgan was traveling behind Mr. Martin in the southbound lane and for an unknown reason Mr. Ratliff traveled into the southbound lane. Mr. Martin was able to get over to the right shoulder of the roadway, but was sideswiped by Mr. Ratliff. Mr. Morgan also pulled over onto the right shoulder of the roadway in an attempt to avoid the collision, but was struck head on by Mr. Ratliff. Mr. Martin was uninjured in the accident. Mr. Morgan and his passenger Linda Morgan were both transported by Christian County EMS to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for treatment. Mr. Ratliff was flown from the scene by helicopter to Vanderbilt Medical Center, where he was later pronounced deceased due to injuries he sustained during the accident.
