Criminal Arrest in Crittenden County

Date of News Release: 06/29/2010

(Madisonville, Ky.) -- Trooper Holliman received information that Barry Beard was swimming at a location off of Irma White Road. Trooper Holliman had a warrant on Mr. Beard for Fleeing or Evading 2nd degree stemming from a foot pursuit that occurred Saturday, June 26th, 2010. Due to the likelihood of Mr. Beard fleeing again Trooper Holliman contacted Lieutenant Brent White who was in the KSP Helicopter working Marijuana Eradication in the area. Trooper Holliman responded to the location and upon Mr. Beard seeing Trooper Holliman he began to flee down a creek. Trooper Holliman pursued the subject on foot for a short distance and the subject stopped. Mr. Beard refused verbal commands to place his hands behind his back and lay down. Trooper Holliman deployed his Taser. Mr. Beard then complied and was taken into custody without further incident and charged with the offenses of Fleeing or Evading 1st, Fleeing or Evading 2nd, Resisting Arrest. He was lodged in the Crittenden County Detention Center.
