KSP Drug investigation Results in Guilty Plea
Date of News Release: 03/11/2010
(Eddyville, Ky.) -- A former Caldwell County school teacher and athletic coach pled guilty today to drug charges in Lyon County Circuit Court. Michael Fraliex, 36 of Fredonia, entered guilty pleas on 6 six counts of attempting to obtain a controlled substance by fraudulent means. The charge is commonly referred to as doctor shopping. Fraliex was arrested in January of 2009 after State Police detectives began investigating him for attempting to obtain multiple prescriptions from various physicians in the area. Fraliex was indicted for the charges in April of 2009.
As a condition of Fraliex's plea, he will have a 10 year prison sentence deferred for five years but will serve 30 days in jail. Fraliex will also permanently surrender his teaching certificate. The case was investigated by the Kentucky State Police and prosecuted by the Lyon County Commonwealth's Attorney.
