Two Injured in a Two Vehicle Collision on KY 164
Date of News Release: 03/05/2010
(Hickory, Ky.) -- Walter P. Brewer Jr. was driving east on KY 164, Roaring Springs Road, about one half mile inside Trigg County in a silver 2008 Nissan Altima. His wife, Joan Brewer, was his passenger. James D. Kern was driving a 1996 Peterbilt semi truck pulling a tanker trailer eastbound on KY 164. Mr. Kern had stopped the truck and turned on his hazard flashers. Mr. Kern was attempting to back into the driveway at 8118 Roaring Springs Road to receive a load of milk. Mr. Kern saw the silver Nissan approaching behind him and noticed they were not slowing down. Mr. Kern attempted to pull forward to avoid collision but the Brewer's vehicle struck the truck in the rear. The driver and passenger were extracted from the Nissan by Trigg County Rescue Squad and EMS agencies from Christian and Trigg counties. Both parties were transported to Jenny Stewart Hospital in Hopkinsville, KY by the Christian County Ambulance Service. Joan Brewer was then airlifted by Air Evac to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. James Kern and his passenger, Sammy Knight, were not injured. The investigation is continuing by Trooper Billy Over.
