Abandoned Vehicle Notice from KSP Post 1

Date of News Release: 01/27/2010

(Hickory, KY) - Due to the forecast of inclement weather across the region, Troopers with Kentucky State Police, Post 1, will be watchful for abandoned vehicles on all roadways in the post district. In order to allow for state and county road crews to treat and clear the roadways, troopers will be removing all vehicles which are abandoned. It is important for motorists to make arrangements to have their vehicle removed by calling a wrecker service or other roadside service. By doing this, motorists will be able to choose the wrecker service and in some cases avoid paying an impound fee. This practice will continue through the duration of inclement weather in order to ensure road crews have non restricted access to all parts of the roadway. If stranded, motorists can dial 911 or Kentucky State Police at 1-800-222-5555 (in the state of Kentucky only, does not work out of state) for assistance.
