Airplane crashes in Marion County
Date of News Release: 02/23/2010
(Lebanon, Ky.) -- The Kentucky State Police are on the scene of an airplane crash approximately 4 miles north of Lebanon off of KY HWY 0055. Post 15 received a call from the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) at 4:10 PM EDT stating that a Piper 28 airplane had fallen off of the radar approximately 4 miles west of the Springfield/Lebanon airfield. KSP personnel are unsure as to what time the crash occurred. The airplane was traveling from Alabama to the Springfield/Lebanon airport with 1 occupant. The lone occupant has been identified as 40-year-old, Kent Douglas Shilling of Springfield, KY. The cause of death will be determined at an autopsy scheduled for Wednesday morning at the State Medical Examiner’s office in Louisville.
