Kentucky State Police Post 14 Citizens Police Academy Graduation

(Ashland, Ky.) -- On Thursday February the 4th at 1900 hours the 1st Kentucky State Police Post 14 Citizens Police Academy graduated. This class was attended by eighteen students from Boyd, Lawrence, Carter and Greenup counties. The students attended class one night a week for eleven weeks to learn and participate with the troopers and other agency personnel to gain a better understanding about the Kentucky State Police. The attendees received instruction on the numerous aspects of the Kentucky State Police including but not limited to conducting traffic stops, crime scene investigation and collision investigation. Colonel Mike Sapp and Captain David Hay were present at King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky. to present graduation certificates.
The Kentucky State Police would like to congratulate all the students and express our thanks to Mr. Fred Jackson and all members of King's Daughters Medical Center for their assistance in making this event a success.
There will be another Citizens Police Academy later this year however the dates have not yet been finalized. If anyone is interested in attending the next Citizen Police Academy contact Tpr. Elliott Gollihue for information on the application and background process.
