KSP Post 13 Graduates First Citizens Police Academy Class

Date of News Release: 01/20/2010

(Hazard, Ky.) -- On January 19, 2010 Kentucky State Police Post 13 in Hazard presented twenty one students certificates for completing the first Citizens Police Academy held in their post area. The class was composed of people from Knott, Breathitt, Letcher, Leslie and Perry counties. The students attended one night a week for eleven weeks to learn and participate with the troopers and other personnel to better understand things about the agency. The classes varied from traffic stops to mock crime scenes. Colonel Mike Sapp and Captain Scott Miller were present at the Highland Winery in Seco, Ky. to present the certificates. We want congratulate all the students and express our thanks to all who attended and participated to make this event a success. There will be another Citizens Police Academy later this year however the dates have not yet been finalized.
